Good evening, hashers!
Sad to say, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, which means we're all in for six more weeks of winter. Sucks to be us. Never fear, though, for the LIVE HARE trail this weekend, the "Six More Weeks of Winter Hash," will keep you warm for an afternoon while you're chasing after the hares, Snips and White Lightning. The LIVE HARE trail will start at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, and the cost is $5 (cheep!), unless you're a first-timer, in which case you're free! Free! Oh, and during and after the trail there'll be food, glorious food, too, as well as really cold beverages for your consuming pleasure.
What's a LIVE HARE trail, and how does it differ from the usual BFH3 trails, and why am I capitalizing LIVE HARE? I'm not sure about the last question, but a LIVE HARE trail means the hares will actually be laying the trail while the pack is chasing them (after being given a 12-minute head start). Usually the BFH3 hares have laid the trail beforehand, but not this week -- so the pack's job is to catch the hares, and the hares' job is to screw the pack (up) and not get caught. It's the essence of hashing. On friggin' on.
We're starting this LIVE HARE action from the parking lot of the Second Street Kroger, on Second Street (duh) in Bloomington. To get there: Get to College Avenue in Bloomington, and go to Second Street, and on the southwest corner of College and Second there's a Kroger supermarket. Park, hash. Here's a link to a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bloomington,+Monroe,... If you're a real Mensa candidate and you still need help finding the start, or you're going to be a few hours late and you want us to wait for you, call 812-219-6566.
ON ON!
