Yes, the world's going to heck in a handbasket -- financial giants are going under, Indiana's still trying to recover from a hurricane that hit three days ago, and the presidential election is hung up on a pregnant 17-year-old. But nothing's going to stop the Blooming Fools from hashing this Saturday, starting from Sample Gates on the Indiana University campus.

It's the Back to School hash, hared by White Lightning, and even though the markets are down, it'll still cost you $5 (cheep!), unless you're a first-time hasher. Expect shiggy, beer, cheesy poofs, and an unusually crappy trail through the human shiggy leading up to the football game. It'll start at the usual 4 p.m. Be there.

Directions: Sample Gates. The big things on the east side of the intersection of Kirkwood and Indiana in Bloomington. From Walnut/College, turn east on Kirkwood, and drive until you can't go any farther, and you're there. I think you can park behind the nearby Von Lee Theater on the weekends in the C spaces without getting towed. Or, park in the parking garage at the corner of Dunn and 6th Street, that's free on the weekends. Or bicycle there. Or walk.
