Pearl Harbor Day Hash

heineken_beer_poster_world_war_iiWell, the weather might not be like Oahu’s in December 1941, but this Saturday’s Pearl Harbor Day Hash, starting from the Griffy Lake parking lot at 3pm, has all the makings of a trail that will live in infamy. Follow your hares, InHeGoes Girls and White Lightning, into unforeseen entanglements, brutal trail assaults, and stiff shiggy resistance. Will it be a strategic triumph or an imperialist debacle?…How about both? Unlike at the actual Pearl Harbor, we’ll have beer.

Where: Griffy Lake parking lot, on Headley (don’t say it) Road north of Bloomington.
When: Saturday, December 7, at 3pm.
How much: Experienced hashers pay $6 (that’s only $0.36 in 1941 dollars, but we only take 2013 dollars, sorry) and first-time hashers and uninvolved bystanders get to hash for free.
Why: Because nothing says “international rapprochement” like running around in the woods and drinking beer.

phd hash logo Directions: Take the 45/46 bypass east from Walnut to the second light, and turn north onto Matlock Road. Matlock Road becomes Headley (don’t say it) Road. Launch your car down the icy Headley Road hill and turn right just after you cross the empty Griffy swamp/ditch. Look for complacent hashers; park; hash.
